I took this pic of Harper and Greta on Tuesday because it is just very them. It shows what they like to do together--goof around. I don't know if Harper does this by herself or if it's Greta's influence, but Greta loves to walk on the couch and jump off onto pillows. Here's hoping she never gets injured! That silly girl can be pretty brave!
Here are a couple of other cute recent pics of them having fun together.
School is not going the greatest for Layla yet. Well, the main problem is in the morning. Her teacher said by the end of the day she seems more comfortable. Layla complains that it is too long, she doesn't color enough, and she doesn't like eating lunch there. She doesn't complain about her teachers only talking in Mandarin though, so that's good! She seems okay at the end of the day, it's the drop off that is has been going bad. Lots of tears from her still which then leads to mom wanting to shed some tears too! Of course on her first day, her dress strap broke (so her teacher had to pin it) and she dropped her whole applesauce on her lap (which normally she is a really neat eater, so I never even gave it a thought that applesauce might be too messy!). But that stuff doesn't even phase her. It's everything else about school that she says she doesn't like. I found it cute yesterday that she said that she ate part of her sandwich at snack time because she thought it was lunch time. But she wasn't embarrassed that she thought that, just said that that was okay and that she just had the rest at lunch and ate her snack for lunch. Just a good reminder of how innocent they are at that age and how everything is so new to them.
Yesterday she was singing the clean up song in Mandarin and it's just of amazing how quickly they pick things up. And to her, it's not weird that she know sings it in Mandarin. She was just like, "Last year I sang it like this "Clean up, clean up, everybody clean up. And now in kindergarten, I sing it like this..." (and I can't even write down what she was singing, no idea!). I'm not sure she was singing it correctly, but sounded good:-). She also has learned "hi" and "thank you", but that's all she could remember. Then I asked her what "good-bye" was and she said she didn't know. I then tried to repeat what I've heard her teachers say to her (which was completely wrong) and then she said, "Oh, it's Zài jiàn" (I had to Google that:-) ). And what she said sounded like what the teachers say. What I said did not. Just amazing how their little ears and minds can pick that up so quickly and mine can not! Tomorrow she has off for Labor Day weekend, so hopefully next week goes a little better. She is already not happy about taking the bus, so we shall see how that goes!

Aww, so hard for mama! Anabelle gave me some tough drop offs too! I peeked in on Layla and Gav today and they both seemed interested and composed! :) give it a few weeks and it will be old Hat! Even sabrina struggled at the beginning of immersion... Never said that's what bothered her, but could not really explain why else she was having such trouble leaving me. Hope things get better soon, it wears on a mama!
