Missing Daddy

Joe is traveling for work this week so it's just me and the kiddos...



Layla was missing her daddy so she wanted to wear her shirt for him to show him how much she loves him:-).

X-Rays

Layla has been having some issues again with blood in her stools. Last time that happened (early July) I stopped eating anything with dairy in it and the blood went away. It started again Friday morning and hasn't gone away yet so we went to the doctor today to get her checked out. The doctor thought her tummy felt good, but wanted to check things out so he sent us to the hospital to get x-rays. She did so good during her x-rays!! She had one laying down and one sitting on this block with the tech and me holding her arms up--she did not like that so much but did really well! It was hard as a mom to see my little girl have to have x-rays! The doctor said that the x-rays looked pretty good so he thinks that her tummy issues might be from other protein allergies such as from peanuts, soy, or eggs. So pretty much if I keep breast feeding I won't be able to eat anything!! :-( So right now she is just on a special (so special it's only found in the pharmacy) formula for babies with extreme protein allergies. Hopefully that helps and nothing else is wrong with her tummy!

O, and she was 8 lbs 4 oz so the doctor said her weight gain was excellent!

Baptism

It was Layla's baptism last night and she did great! During the morning service we were sitting in the same row as the little boy that got baptized and him and Layla were going back and forth crying the whole time. We were hoping that she got that out of her system and wouldn't cry at night and she didn't! Here are some pics of her special night...

First Overnight Outing

Layla had her first overnight trip this weekend to a cottage with Joe's family! She had lots of fun and is now worn out from her exciting weekend.

Newborn

Layla has finally outgrown some of her preemie clothes!! She is wearing her first Newborn outfit today! It's an outfit that my mom got for her before she was born. She looks a bit like a boy because it is green, but I still think it's cute:-). If we go out tonight maybe she'll have to wear a headband with it. Her pants are hiked up to her pits, but it fits better than preemie outfits with feet on them--she wasn't able to stretch her legs out all the way in those anymore:-(.


This was Joe's idea last night to keep her occupied during supper (I have the high chair put together for when I baby-sit my nephew). She seemed to really like it! Don't worry, we're not feeding her solids yet:-).


Here she is the other day holding her own bottle. Now if she could just learn to make them herself too:-).


She is going on her first overnight trip this weekend to a cottage with Joe's family so hopefully she sleeps good there!

Welcome Alden James!

Congratulations to Curt and Jamie who welcomed Alden James Lucas on Tuesday!! We are so excited for them--another buddy for Layla:-). Jamie had him just before 1a.m. on Tuesday so she was close to having him on Layla's due date! Had Layla decided to come on her due date like we had planned we could have been in the hospital together:-). Here are some pics from the hospital on Tuesday.

And thanks to Keely's suggestion of taking a pic with a stuffed animal to see her growth...the first one was from just over 3 weeks old (right when she came home from the hospital) and the other is from 9 weeks. It's hard to tell wear her feet end in the first pic, but the blanket goes quite aways below her feet. It will be fun to compare this doll to her in a year!




It got so hot and fumey (I know that's not really a word) yesterday in our house from cleaning the oven we had to turn the air off (which we NEVER do b/c we both are so hot blooded) and open windows to ventilate. Elvis enjoyed the breeze through the window...

2 Months Old!

Layla is two months old today! I can't believe how quick it's gone, yet it seems like forever ago that I was pregnant! Today is (was) my due date. I wouldn't have chosen to have a premature baby, but now that she is healthy and at home I must say it was nice not being pregnant in the summer:-). We are noticing changes in Layla daily and it is amazing to watch. She's becoming more interested in what's going on around her and gets bored without toys to look at and swat at. She was having fun today looking at herself in the mirror.

I thought I'd copy my friend Lindsey's idea of taking a nudey pic for each month birthday to see her grow.
