Sickies and School

Wednesday morning Layla woke up saying her tummy hurt and she then napped for 2 hours (like from 9-11am) which is totally not normal for her--normally she doesn't nap at all.  And Gibs was up in the night a few times the night before just crying, which he hasn't cried that much in the night possibly ever.  He then woke up with a runny nose.  Gibs has been sleepy and grumpy on and off and after Layla's nap she said she felt much better.  Today she woke up again saying she didn't feel well and was coughing and he still has his cold so they watched tv a bit this morning on the couch.  He didn't last very long laying down and then seemed bored to be playing by himself:). After a bit of tv, Layla seemed much better too.  Last week Gibs was waking up at 7:30 some mornings (which if I give him books, he'll "read" until about 7:45 and then he will normally lay in bed with me until 8), but thankfully is back to 8 or slightly before now.  Layla now typically wakes up around 8:30 (it used to be 9, but often now, she's up before 9).  It'll be hard to adjust again to getting up in the night with a baby and then even after it sleeps through the night, the chances that one out of three kids is up early is probably pretty likely!  But then once they start school, I know our days of sleeping in will be gone too, so I might as well enjoy it while it lasts!
On Tuesday, Joe took the day off to get some stuff done around the house (like get Gibson's room ready in the basement, although we got a long ways on Saturday thanks to Joe's parents' help!  We had to move a heavy desk out of there and such).  Joe could then bring  Layla to a preschool enrichment class at Holland Christian.  I didn't even realize they offered them until someone was dropping off a meal the other week and mentioned them.  They are for kids currently in a preschool or kids not going to preschool.  Since Layla isn't doing 3's preschool, I thought she'd really like this as a chance to go to school for the day.  Joe said she started to cry a little bit getting out of the car, but as soon as she saw her locker and classroom she was excited and as she was starting her craft she happily yelled "good-bye" to Joe.  I know she would have loved to do preschool this year, but knowing I'd have to be on bedrest for awhile this fall and then having a new baby, we decided to just wait until next year.

Posing before the left (it was a bright sunny fall day!)...
She came home with lots of crafts!  Amazing how many they can make in 2 1/2 hours:). The theme was pumpkins and I guess they read pumpkin books, made pumpkin crafts, sang songs and had time to go on the swings:).  She was very excited to take her backpack to school even though it hardly had anything in it:).
I told her I wanted a picture of her when she got home and Gibs excitedly posed nicely right by her and happily said "cheese" and then she didn't want to smile.  Normally she's always happy to pose for pictures!  So she got cut off this one for not wanting to participate:).
That then made her want to smile too:)...
